About OSU / À propos de nous



The Ottawa Stilt Union is a theatre company based on the love of stilt performance. We are a bilingual company of performers based in the Ottawa-Gatineau region, creating work that uses stilts, acrobatics and other forms of extreme physical action to tell stories.

The company began in early 2007 with our participation in The Snow Show, East ‘o the Sun and West ‘o the Moon, produced by the NAC and the Caravan Farm Theatre.

Our next project, in the spring of that year, was BEOWULF, co-produced by the Magnetic North Theatre Festival, the University of Ottawa Theatre Department  and The Ottawa Stilt Union.

In the spring and summer of 2008 the Ottawa Stilt Union created and performed THIS IS A VERY OLD STORY/C’EST UNE VEILLE HISTOIRE, a play without words.

In the Spring and Summer of 2009 and 2010, the Ottawa Stilt Union presented their second original performance piece THE GIRL WHO WAS EATEN BY THE DARK.

In the spring and summer of 2011 the OSU created and performed Curioux, a new work collaboratively created by the company based on “Elevation” by Guy Marsan which appeared in the 2006 fringe.

Le Ottawa Stilt Union est une compagnie de théâtre fondée sur l’amour des représentations en échasses. Nous sommes une compagnie bilingue de la région d’Ottawa-Gatineau qui crée du théâtre en utilisant des échasses, des acrobaties et d’autres formes de théâtre physique pour raconter des histoires.
La compagnie a vu le jour au début de l’année 2007 pendant notre participation à The Snow Show, East ‘o the Sun and West ‘o the Moon,produit par le Théâtre anglais du CNA et Caravan Farm Theatre.

Comme prochain projet, au printemps de la même année, nous avons créé BEOWULF, une coproduction du Magnetic North Theatre Festival, du Département de théâtre de l’Université d’Ottawa et du Ottawa Stilt Union.

Au printemps et à l’été 2008, le Ottawa Stilt Union a créé et présenté THIS IS A VERY OLD STORY/C’EST UNE VEILLE HISTOIRE, un spectacle sans paroles.

Au printemps et à l’été 2009 et 2010, le Ottawa Stilt Union a présenté sa seconde création originale, la pièce La Fille mangée par la noirceur.

Au printemps et à l’été 2011, le OSU a créé et présenté Curioux, un spectacle monté par la compagnie, qui s’inspirait du spectacle “Élévation”, par Guy Marsan, présenté au Festival Fringe d’Ottawa en 2006.
